A Conversation With Barack Obama: Rolling Stone

Wednesday night's Stevie Wonder tribute will put President Obama back in his favorite music director's chair, this time honoring his very favorite music hero. Interviewed for Rolling Stone's Jul 10, 2008 issue, President Obama said: If I had one (a hero), it would have to be Stevie Wonder. When I was just at that point where you start getting involved in music, Stevie had that run with Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Innervisions, and then Songs in the Key of Life.

Those are as brilliant a set of five albums as we've ever seen. So that was a guy I loved, and I loved the Stones.

Starting at the beginning of the Jann S. Wenner Obama interview, a chartered champaign flight from Chicago to Appleton, Wisc., we read Obama's pre-election thoughts on the youth vote, what's on his iPod, and his three priorities as President.
