Party On! Uncovers Obama Style Cocktails
Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 8:49AM Anne here. The fact that the President doesn't drink alcohol, hasn't left the nation uninspired to create cocktails in his honor.
This morning's Obama Foodorama reviews the big changes in food safety proposed by POTUS. Read there for the story.
In sharing a recipe for the Baroque Obama cocktail, our friends have inspired me to look for more. After all, this is a fashion, style, and everyday living blog.
First up, the Baroque Obama cocktail, via Obama Foodorama:

Place the following ingredients in a cocktail shaker with fresh ice:
2 parts Starr African Rum
1 part American gin (ie Bluecoat or Aviation gin)
3/4 part organic Hawaiian cane syrup
Dash of Hawaiian plum extract (sometimes labeled "Li Hing Powder")
1 part organic lime juice
Splash of Maraschino liqueur (ie Luxardo)
Shake vigorously (so as to "wake up the drink") and strain in a chilled cocktail glass.
The Obamatini
I'm sure that we'll see endless versions of martinis that are fit for a POTUS. This Obamatini comes from White on Rice Couple

Via White on Rice Couple: This Obamatini cocktail commemorating President Barack Obama, incorporates a few of the qualities of our 44th President. Pineapple juice from his home in Hawaii, the brightness of lime reflects the brightness of his intelligence, and the spice of chili to mirror this fire.
3 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz. Gin
3/4 oz. Lime Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup
1/4 - 1/2 Serrano or Thai Chili
dash Angostura Bitters
1. Add ingredients into a shaker, crush the chili inside of the shaker. Add ice, then shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
2. Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon twist, raise it to your dreams, and drink.
The Ciroc Obama
This yummy-looking, Party On cocktail was created at the Gypsy Bar in Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel.

Ciroq Obama
1 part Ciroc vodka
1/2 part Blue Curacao
1 part fresh lime juice (or sour mix)
1 part Sprite
Mix ingredients and shake in a stirrer with ice; serve over ice in a rocks glass and garnish with lime.
Obama Mama
The Ottawa Citizen says that the Bahama Mama is "shockingly like a Bahama Mama. Ya know, the drink traditionally drunk by obnoxious, carousing, often-on-spring-break, about-to-be-very-sunburnt folk while on vacation in tourist traps on developing islands where the indigenous population is shunned and barred from enjoying the beaches."
I say this is just an example of POTUS's non-elitist following, a fact that doesn't negate the reality that even Ivy League, Republican fratboys like Obama.
Here's to the "Yes We Can" folk:
