Back in my home town, even our always ebullient major Michael Bloomberg admits the city is limping on a broken leg.
To be mildly optimistic, there are artists old enough to remember who believe that New York in the Seventies was one hell of a town. It was gritty but earnest, with more soul than the land of $20 cocktails, easy money, and even easier lays of recent years.
