“The American fashion industry hasn’t had a catch this big since, well, since another icon of Democratic chic took up residency on Pennsylvania Avenue in 1961,” WWD wrote last month, referring to Jacqueline Kennedy. The article featured sketches of possible looks for Mrs. Obama that WWD had sought from top designers, many of whom have submitted ideas to her.
As for Mr. Obama, he is wearing a new, union-made tux from Hart Schaffner Marx, the menswear retailer in Chicago. This will be Mr. Obama’s first new tux in 15 years. more
