One woman -- besides her height -- towers above other women in her commitment to developing her physical self. Her muscles are powerful . . . as strong as her mind and her heart. Her physicality invigorates her and all those who see her -- ok, most people. Some people find her physically intimating or daunting, a bit unsettling in her stature.

Cutting the Met's Ribbon, Michelle Obama Reminds Us that the Arts Define Us As People

Cutting the ribbon for the newly renovated American wing of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art this afternoon, First Lady Michelle Obama said "the arts are not just a nice thing to have. They define who we are as a people."

We have no word on just how many people attended the opening, but AP reports that Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, supermodel Iman and designer Ralph Lauren attended.

I am positively dying to know what Iman said to Michelle, after her "Michelle's no great beauty" comments from yesterday's Parade Magazine. Seriously.

There's a lovely photo of Michelle at the Met, dispensing PDAs in her path. I think I'll go with the "leg" photo instead. It shows Mrs. Obama as her confident, womanly, beautiful Smart Sensuality self, wearing a purple Isaac Mizrahi ensemble. A

Moms Who Exercise are the Michelle Obama Wish this Mother's Day

Something tells me that it will be a Michelle Obama weekend, as women come out of the closet, admitting that they adore having a Smart Sensuality, PDA-hugging, brainiac FLOTUS as an inspiration to moms around the globe.

It saddens me to read that women continue to feel that feminism demeans motherhood as a lower-rung endeavor.

I'm beginning to think that this argument has been cultivated for decades not by feminists, but by moms who are uncomfortable with their achievements. I've just NEVER heard this attitude stated out loud or written about in all my life in feminist circles, whatever they are. Somehow, I missed it.

I'll weigh in tomorrow on this topic. For today, I'll be posting the accolades to our dear FLOTUS, a "Mom-in-Chief" with a very important message, which is the Michelle quote that drew me to this first Globe and Mail article:

"I want my girls to see a mother who takes care of herself even if it means I have to get up at 4:30".
