One of our more popular articles on Michelle-Style is one of our earliest: J Crew's Mickey Drexler: The Man Most LIkely To Do the Right Thing.

This is Raee, the 2-year-old daughter of Liya Kebede. Posting a feature about Modelina.com's Charity Channel yesterday on A of C, I found a video on J Crew's support of Lemlem, model Liya Kebede's children's collection that features clothes made in Ethiopia from natural cotton.

J Crew's Mickey Drexler: The Man Most Likely To Do the Right Thing

J Crew is breaking ranks with the majority of American fashion brands, putting 65-year-old Lauren Hutton (wrinkles and all) on its catalogue cover, without fearing that sales will tank with younger customers.

While the catalogue is hardly ageless, it's a big step forward in American branding. J Crew's move is still considered the "kiss of death" in most corner offices.

Perhaps our recessionary times will inspire brand builders to relax the "perfection standards" in favor or a more realistic and comprehensive view of stylish people. Stay tuned.

In fact, his 100% Italian silk satin, custom made bow tie had not debuted on the global dance floor, when J. Crew collapsed under the enthusiasm of eager Internet window shoppers, wanting a good look at the First Girls' coats.

First Daughters a la Crewcuts

Maya Soetoro-Ng, sister of Barack Obama stands behind his daughters, Sasha and Malia .Incredibly radiant smiles alone would have carried the day, but the Obama girls (all three) gave us a fashion orgasm today.

Malia word a double-breasted, periwinkle-blue coat with a blue-ribbon bow at the waist, and Sashs, 7, was totally charming in a pink coat with orange scarf and satin belt, with a coral-colored dress winking at us. Both outfits came from Crewcuts by J. Crew.
