Superman or Supersaturated? Are Barack Obama and Britney Spears Media Cousins?

Barack Obama is coming to a TV screen, magazine, website -- perhaps even a hamburger joint near you -- today, tomorrow, and every day in the foreseeable future. The Presiden't 'full saturation' approach to communicating with the American public is scrutinized in this week's New York Magazine cover story: Will Barack Obama's Media Ubiquity Be the Most Significant Aspect of His Presidency?
Let's hope that the president's legacy is far more than the best PR campaign in history.
The topic of POTUS and the media is 'everywhere' these days, and it's a two-way street. I shook my head watching CNN's Wolf Blitzer making one of those 'breaking news' announcements, equivalent to what he might say if bombs were hitting New York.
The critical news CNN was delivering from the Situation Room: long-lens photos of the guys having a beer last Thursday night.
Sad and scarry, making every breath and move POTUS takes BREAKING NEWS!!!! from the "best investigative news team in the business." The West Wing was in total control of the 'breaking news', which required no investigation on CNN's part.
There's no doubt that Barack Obama 'sells' at a time when traditional news outlets are up against the wall financially. Americans continue to love Obama, even if they are increasingly skeptical that his policies will deliver -- or even can deliver on the short-term, in our very messed up economic world.
With limited financial resources and a very popular president, there's a growing concern that the media won't be vigilant on the investigative end of quality journalism's To Do list.
The Economist also examined the media's relationship with POTUS: The Obama Cult. Check out that article and many more newly-posted reviews of how POTUS is governing in our Mr. President channel. Anne
