Michelle in Europe Reminded Me of ALL We Must Still Do for Women's Rights
Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 11:44AM Anne here, very focused on a case of Lubna Ahmed Hussein, the Sudanese journalist who has invited 500 journalists to her flogging. Anne of Carversville has become instrumental in broadcasting her case, an unintended situation evolving from all the conversation going on about burqas, over at A of C.
My goal is always to be a peacemaker, seeking communication between different groups of people.
You can blame my recent transformation on Michelle's week in Russia, Rome and Ghana -- and her outfit on Vatican day, which still gives me nightmares when I close my eyes.
That entire trip reminded me of what women aren't in the world, and how much work needs to be done, to insure the most basic freedoms for women in the world.
I'm not criticizing the First Lady in any way. But her outfit scared the wits out of me and my unconscious mind.
The more I study the topic of women's rights in the Middle East, I'm concerned that in many countries, they are actually worse than several decades ago.
Lots going on at A of C:
Read Anne's Journal: We Support Lubna Ahmed Hussein & the Women of Sudan
RedTracker News: Saudi Woman Journalist Calls Saudi Arabia "the world's largest women's prison"
Anne's Journal: While the World Debates Burqas, Fashion Designers Show Beautiful Abayas at Paris's George V Hotel.
So I LOVE style, art, travel, literature, sexy movies and la dolce vita, but Michelle's trip really knocked me out of lala land, on the subject of women's rights.
The whole concept of Smart Sensuality women like Michelle, Carla, Queen Rania, Diane von Furstenberg and so many more, is that we are sensual, smart and caring women.
We are also doers, and I've decided that I'd better get going on multiple fronts.
Mine is a comparatively unique voice, combing style and activism, but we are in a new transition period. I believe you will see increasing numbers of women and men, stepping up to the plate and moving far beyond writing checks for the must-do charity dinner.
Compare the new website Modelinia.com with the industry standard Style.com.
Modelinia.com is for Smart Sensuality women ( Cultural Creatives who embrace style and sensuality.) Style.com is for Modern values women, who are more focused on living their own lives.
It's worth noting the Conde Nast just called in McKinsey & Company to rip the organization apart, looking at their magazines -- including Vogue -- and positioning them for tomorrow's world. I rest my case. Anne

I received a private message this morning from Lubna Ahmed Hussein. Another woman journalist Amal Habbani, has been arrested in Sudan for supporting Lubna. Read the story at Anne of Carversville.
Lynn Sweet remarked this morning, that American First Lady Michelle Obama didn't speak yesterday, at either the afternoon country music workshop, or last evening. It seems that FLOTUS has lost her voice, too. A
