Obamas Back on American Soil; Let the Real Dialogue Begin
Monday, July 13, 2009 at 11:01AM I would say that the gang looks a little tired, arriving at the White House from Ghana early Sunday morning, July 12, 2009. Malia actually appears to be operatiing on adrenalin but the typically vivacious Sasha is pooped.
AP Photo/Manuel Balce CenetaWe're all collecting our thoughts with the Big and Little Obamas back in Washington. Marie Claire says that Michelle looked fabulous last week, going to the Vatican, and I admit that I'm still as unsettled by her look, as I was Friday.
In an interesting turn of events, Muslim women are opening what could be a significant dialogue with me over on Anne of Carversville around burqas (burkas), chadors, hajibs and other traditions of Muslim women's dress.
My web traffic is outstanding and I'm in contact with two Muslim women who left detailed responses to my article. See: While the World Debates Burquas, Fashion Designers Show Beautiful Abayas at Paris's George V Hotel.
If my being politically incorrect and admitting my own concerns and fears around dress and fashion, opens up a dialogue with Muslim women, then I'm thrilled beyond words. I'll gladly be the village idiot for this larger goal. Anne
