Sarkozy Entertains Sasha at Élysée Palace Birthday Party

UPDATE 8:53am: And they're off! All female Obamas, family and friends are airborn, returning to America. WOOPS! Erase. When one flies out of Paris, one heads north, not west, as geography suggests.

Why not drop in then to London, which is just what our "phantom first mom" did this morning. Team Obama is everywhere, even when you're not looking for them.

We might call her the "phantom first mom".

Simply stated, photos of Michelle and her family enjoying Paris are in short supply. Here we see the First Lady shopping on Sunday, before making a trip to the Louvre. Two major museums in one day! The Obamas move swiftly and surely.

If French President Nicholas Sarkozy couldn't charm the pants off POTUS, he is perhaps on the inside track with Sasha Obama, who celebrated turning 8 yesterday.

The London Times report that Sarkozy led a chorus of "Happy Birthday" to Sasha, who was joined by her mother, her godmother, sister and cousin at the Élysée Palace. POTUS was back in America, preparing for battle on health care and the US economy.

Adding a bit of young masculinity to the birthday party mix were Mr. Sarkozy's three sons by two marriages and Ms Bruni's eight-year-old son. A
