Michelle Obama Wears Hussein Chalayan in London, Her Most Avant-Garde Designer Yet

New York Mag has a new feature, The Michelle Obama Look Book. Their goal is to catalogue the First Lady's looks each day, in a fashion photo with designer reference.

Of all fashion designers, Hussein Chalayan is known for mechanically-inspiring, high concept design concoctions in his spaceage runway shows. See videos in my writing links. I'm very impressed that Michelle wore Hussein Chalayan in London. It's a charming nod and acknowledgement to British design but also one more statement that our First Lady is not only a Fashion Independent, but a very progressive one besides.

Stella McCartney? Do I hear Stella McCartney in Michelle's future?

One more fashion note, thinking about vegan Stella McCartney.

We reported in our new Redtracker: Driver's Seat Quickie blog that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy says that she doesn't wear fur.

Michelle Obama's office issued a statement confirming PETA's existing position that the First Lady does not wear fur either. A
