Will Bruni & Sarkozy's Attempt to Implement the O-Effect Cause a Political Tempest in France?
Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 7:31AM I just wrote what I thought was the big Carla Bruni story on Anne of Carversville, in which France's First Lady lamblasts Pope Benedict for the Catholic Church's policies on contraception in Africa.
Now I find a sensation-packed corollary story.
Smart Sensuality First Lady of France Carla Bruni and her husband Nicolas Sarkozy have created quite a storm in the flirtatious Femme Actuelle video, labeled a "well choreographed love-in at the Elysee Palace" by the London Telegraph.
Carla Bruni's words of encouragement for the French President are caught on tape
Following what I believe is the Obama-Effect of creating a "people's house", the Sarkozy's invited five Femme Actuelle readers to join Bruni in some "girl talk".
Suddenly, the French president drops by for a brief chat. After an extended display of physical affection -- which the London Telegraph says Sarkozy tries to discourage -- Bruni whispers "Bon courage, chou chou", which means "Be brave, my little darling".
The term "chou chou" means cabbage in the singular, but when used twice, it translates to "little darling". As a reminder to readers, Mr. Sarkozy stands at 5'5", against Bruni at 5'9" and is already the subject of "short men" jokes.
With this video and Bruni's accusations against the Catholic Church coming from the same interview, Sarkozy has his hands full. There's no doubt that the couple has an intense relationship, so it's hard to believe that Bruni's behavior and comments about Catholicism weren't discussed in advance, as part of an interview strategy.
The French President has already admitted that wife Bruni influences his policies and political views.
Will the Sarkozy attempt to implement the O-Effect into French politics backfire? Did Bruni not clear her views with Sarkozy before going after the Pope? I doubt it.
Stay tuned. I anticipate that Bruni will be positively roasted, but as I keep telling you -- the times, they are a-changing, and Smart Sensuality women are in the lead. Anne
