Anna Wintour's New Public Visibility
Monday, May 18, 2009 at 3:38PM We've heard a lot from Anna Wintour in the last week. The gossip all centers around Anna keeping her job at Vogue, after a spectacular run. I'm wondering if perhaps the Michelle-effect might not be in play.
When the country's Smart Sensuality, Cultural Creative first lady is open and warmly accessible, it just reinforces the hauteur of the Modern mindset, being critically aware of themselves and so very self-important.
Anna's a quick study and Michelle Obama may well have an impact on Wintour's public persona.
Vogue editor Anna Wintour didn't speak of Michelle on last night's CBS "60 Minutes" interview. This is 13 minutes of rare footage for people who don't know much about the fashion industry powerhouse, who was the muse for Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada". See YouTube.
In a rare TV interview topic, Anna Wintour answered Morey Safer's questions about her being considered a "bitch" and why she typically wears sunglasses.
Wintour did talk about the First Lady in last week's evening conversation with Jonathan Tisch at the 92nd Street Y.
Fashion, politics and the arts will come together again tonight, when the Obamas serve as Honorary Chairmen of American Ballet Theatre's eight-week session at the Metropolitan Opera House.
Not only will the sounds of Herbie Hancock be filling the night air at tonight's ABT gala; Wynton Marsalis will be playing across the courtyard at the reopening of Lincoln Center's extensive facelift.
The New York fashion industry is coming to Lincoln Center, having signed a five-year contract to stage the first fashion shows in the plaza, beginning in September 2010.
