Michelle Obama Tells All 'Her' Children: 'Our Fate Was In Our Hands'

This short CBS News video reviews the highlights of First Lady Michelle Obama's first month in office, citing Michelle's affinity for children and her evolving role in shaping and influencing young lives.

Our First Lady connects with kids on their terms, dazzling them with stores of the White House bowling alley but also getting serious in sharing the Obamas own history.

Without dismissing the enormous problems facing African American children in America, it's clear that Michelle Obama is on a mission to transmit a key message to the nation's children: you, too, can be President or First Lady. "Our fate was in our hands." Yours is, too.

Thoughts of Nelson Mandela and his relationship with kids just flashed through my mind. A
