'Love Comes in Time': My Song, Q's and America's Too
Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 7:45AM I spent time yesterday with my dear friend Patrick Talev-Karafilovic, aka Q (not Quincy), an independent music producer, business associate of Earth Wind and Fire's Ralph Johnson and the EWR band.
Q is always tight-lipped about his life -- even with me -- but I managed to drag a big smile and a few details about his impressions of Michelle and POTUS, walking in to check pit the band setup the night of the Governor's Ball.
Q was at the White House with EWR (yes, I adore EWF!) and my guy, the Reverend Howard Hewitt singing "Love Comes in Time".
At the risk of sounding like some no-nohting, musical diva, I presssed Q on this song "Love Comes in Time", from the moment I heard it, insisting that it had a message beyond its original religious message.
I told Patrick that "Love Comes in Time" is just that . . . a big-picture love song. To say that he resisted is . . . hmmm . . . perhaps I will just keep quiet about our conversation. Let's just say we both had strong points of view about "Love Comes in Time".
Love is a big theme and so is my vision of God's message.
From the moment I heard "Love Comes in Time", I felt its message of hope about love was relevant to couples, and also healing within groups in our society. I moved the song out of church and into the big picture of life.
Well, Team Obama shares my viewpoint regarding "Love Comes in Time".
This inspiring song has taken on a life of its own, moving from a treasured, early-preview MP3 file on my desktop, to being played at the White House's Governor's Ball.
"Love Comes in Time" is featured on the CD "Audio Caviar", available at Amazon as an MP3 download or the entire CD.
Listen to snatches of all Q's songs on his MySpace page.
I can't locate Howard Hewett singing "Love Comes In time" on YouTube, but I did find "This Love Is Forever".
OK, it's a bit racy, but romantic love SHOULD be racy. How else do we keep it alive?
Something tells me that FOTUS and POTUS would dig this video. After all, even New York Mag writes that there's some serious presidential heat going on between those White House sheets.
For this Biblical gift, I say: Amen. Enjoy. Anne
