Earth Wind and Fire Playing At Debut White House Dinner
Friday, February 20, 2009 at 9:04AM It's very clear that music will be a key element in the Obama White House.
On Sunday evening, President Obama and First Lady Michelle will show off their entertaining style Sunday night when they host a black-tie White House dinner for the National Governors Association.
The dinner will also debut the Party On skills of White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers.
About the music . . . the governors, including Alaka gov Sarah Palin will be entertained by the Marine Corps band and Earth Wind and Fire, the jazz and rhythm and blues group from the 1970s with Chicago roots.
Earth Wind and Fire music is in my blood. I enjoyed their 2008 summer concert in Rockefeller Center and dinner after the show with original founder Ralph Johnson and my date, a music producer, who hosted the small gathering.
EWF is very tight with the Obamas. You're getting a sense of the whole crowd . . . Stevie Wonder next week. Hmmm.
I actually picked one of the new loves of the younger generation, played at the Inauguration. I will find it for you . . . it's a great song with a wonderful message. No name until I find it.
More later. For now . . . a little Earth, Wind and Fire and a quick check to see if the menu has been announced. A
