NO to Chicago's Bid
Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11:55AM BREAKING NEWS: US eliminated in first round of Olympic balloting. Japan as well.

Reasons from my point of view:
1. It's a new world out there, and we're not leading it.
2. Brazil's Rio could become another Barcelona, one of the only cities to actually benefit from hosting the Olympics.
3. Chicago is a sitting duck for a terrorist attack, especially now that terrorists are planting explosives in their bodies.
4. However would people actually get visas to come here for the Olympics? We can't process people now. It would be a bureaucratic nightmare in a country that no longer moves quickly.
5. Brazil's economy is expanding and progressive in 2009. They're doing something right in this global meltdown, because they are growing.
6. Rio is young, sexy, multicultural and the future of the world.
America is old and screaming about health-care death squads and no work on global warming and we're the best at everything -- if only the rest of the world would get religion and see straight.
I find the voting a wakeup call, one I write about all the time on Anne of Carversville.
Obvously, you know who I think will win. If it's Spain, then I'm as shocked as you are. And so much for insider info. They had it all wrong, saying it would be Chicago or Rio. Anne
