Bad News for the Presidential Suitmaker
Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 5:35AM Even the President couldn't turn the tides for his favorite, Chicago-based suitmaker. We have a not-too-gentle reminder that there's a global economy reality behind all those ruffles and sparkling crystals.
AP reports that American institution Hartmarx Corp has filed for bankruptcy, after delivering a tuxedo, topcoat and a suit for Obama's inauguration.
While President Obama would look totally fab in Tom Ford, I suspect he'll hang with Hartmarx, if they receive up to $160 million in debtor-in-possession financing. Barack just isn't a turncoat kind of guy.
