Michelle Obama Wears Jason Wu to Inaugural Balls
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 9:25PM First Lady Michelle Obama chose a one-shoulder, ivory chiffon down by young New York, CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund designer Jason Wu to wear to this evening's Inaugural Balls.
First Lady Michelle Obama dances in Jason WuThe dress has a ruched bodice, fluffy appliques (I've called today a lemon meringue day, and we WILL be featuring deserts tomorrow), Swarovski crystals and silver thread embroidery. The dress is young, fresh, almost a bit Southern belle. The romantic, highly feminine gown reminds me of an ensemble from the Alvin Ailey "Revelations" ballet.
This is not my favorite gown I've seen Michelle Obama wear, but I'm thrilled to see her supporting the most talented of our truly gifted American designers. And I do believe that the majority of American women will love the dress on our glorious new First Lady.
The Obamas are a totally "in love", inspiring couple . . . seemingly still-dazzled with each other, than the Kennedys. Already they are setting new standards in American elegance, and marital love.
I, for one, am totally besotted, and I don't care how much heat I take from my friends for being such an Obama groupie. They are fabulous!
